Sandpipers Dominate the
TRI-Event!
Three Sandpipers Three
1st place division wins! Swim-Bike-Run, well our kids do
it all now but two years ago we trained in the pool and ran around
the park, so why not bike? Swimmers are some of the best
tri-athletes later in life. But lately we have moved our training
into the bike to get a different way of approaching our
conditioning. Only three swimmers competed in this event because of
allergies and bad weather not letting everyone prepare for the
event, but this event was just the tip of the iceberg I must say.
Those three out there were nationally recognized and not just in
the pool but in the TRI-World.
Natalie Lipkowitz took the
overall title by over 10 minutes and was the fastest women at last
weekend’s RAGE Triathlon at Lake Mead. Kacey Smith was
2nd in the 18 and under division to Natalie but
1st was given to Natalie in the overall so Kacey was
move to 1st in 18 and under. Both have qualified for the
Junior Nationals in San Diego August 13th this summer.
Our newest tri-athlete competitor from the pool was Matt Dangleis,
who was also 1st in the 18 and under division. Matt
competed at the Olympic Distance.
We expect to see an increase in
interest in our Sandpiper Multi-Sport Tri Team so keep an eye out
for up and coming pool swimmers, putting the bike and run together
for fun in local TRI’s.
